Dr. Shin was born and raised in New York City. Dr. Shin received her D.M.D. from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with honors. During dental school, Dr. Shin conducted research studying periodontal disease in diabetic patients through the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellowship. She presented her findings at numerous medical, dental, and scientific conferences, where she received several awards for her work. Her research has been published in nationally recognized academic journals.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Shin began postgraduate training in the periodontics program at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where she received training in implantology and the diagnosis and treatment of advanced gum disease. She then returned to general dentistry, and completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the NYU-Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Shin is licensed by the Dental Board of California, and is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the California Dental Association (CDA). She is a caring and meticulous dentist who is committed to her patients and takes great responsibility in their care. She believes that the best way to achieve and maintain good oral health is through prevention and patient education. Taking the time to help her patients understand the causes of their existing dental concerns, options for treatment, and changes in daily habits that can preserve health is her top priority.
